SUMMARY:Webinar: ASTER – Circular Economy in the Alpine Outdoor Industry
DESCRIPTION:How can the outdoor sector become more sustainable? Which EU requirements promote and support the transition towards a circular economy? And how have best-practice companies successfully managed this shift? If you are looking for answers to these questions and want to learn what opportunities arise for retailers\, manufacturers and brands\, this webinar is exactly right for you. \nThe sports and outdoor sector is an important economic force in the Alpine region. In textiles\, equipment\, and infrastructure\, it frequently relies on plastics. Although many manufacturers and brands already invest in sustainable product design\, large amounts of waste are often generated at the end of the product life cycle — waste that is mostly incinerated or landfilled. Only a small proportion is reused or recycled in a closed loop. \nThe EU‑co‑funded Interreg Alpine Space Project ASTER develops solutions to make outdoor textiles and equipment more sustainable\, avoid waste\, and strengthen the circular economy in the Alpine region. \nIn the webinar “Circular Economy in the Alpine Outdoor Industry – Legal Framework and the EU’s R‑Strategies* for the Circular Economy”\, you will gain an overview of how the outdoor sector in Europe is to become more circular\, which EU regulations currently apply and will apply in the near future\, and how your company can benefit. You will also learn about best‑practice examples and can exchange ideas with industry peers and experts. \n* The so‑called R‑strategies provide clear guidance for implementing the circular economy. Within ASTER\, the focus lies particularly on Rethink (product design)\, Reduce (resource efficiency in production)\, Repair\, Reuse\, and Recycle. \nProgram\nIntroduction to the topic “Circular Economy in the Alpine Outdoor Industry” and presentation of the ASTER project\nCéline Quester\, Project Lead ASTER\, La Région Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes\, France  \nEuropean Circular Economy Strategy (Textiles\, Plastics) \nAntonija Božič Cerar\, CCIS Environmental Department\, Slovenia  \nThe European Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and its relevance for the outdoor industry\nOlga Litvyak\, University for Continuing Education Krems\, Austria \nHow it works: Experiences with implementing Extended Product Responsibility (EPR) for textiles in France\nt.b.a.  \nDigital Product Passport (DPP) – an enabler for the Circular Economy\nAndreas Herbst\, Plattform Industrie 4.0: Project PASSAT\, Austria  \nUsing the R‑strategies* to drive the circular economy – from Refuse to Recover \nMarkus Lambracht\, University of Erlangen\, Germany  \nHow it works: Collection and recycling of used textiles in Switzerland\nPeter Bolliger\, Tell‑Tex AG\, Switzerland  \nInteractive Discussion \nEvent Information\nCosts\nParticipation is free of charge; prior registration is required. \nLanguage\nThe webinar will be held in English. \nTarget Group \nSports retailers\, (senior) employees in sports retail\, manufacturers of outdoor clothing\, service providers for rental\, repair\, and reuse\, collectors and recyclers — particularly of textiles — and other stakeholders from the alpine outdoor sports sector as well as the circular and waste management industries. \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: ASTER - Dive into the Digital Product Passport for Outdoor Textiles
DESCRIPTION:Discover how the Digital Product Passport (DPP) is transforming the sports and outdoor industry – practical\, clear\, and directly applicable. In this compact training\, you will learn how the DPP helps build a genuine circular economy in the textile sector and enables your customers to make sustainable purchasing decisions. Knowing how the DPP works today gives you a clear advantage tomorrow: for advice\, purchasing\, repair services\, product design\, sustainability communication\, product range planning\, and recycling. \nThe Digital Product Passport (DPP) makes textile products fully transparent for the first time. It consolidates standardised information throughout the entire product life cycle\, supporting extended use\, repair\, sorting\, and high-quality recycling. Consumers and businesses gain quick access to relevant data via QR code or digital interfaces. \nThe DPP is part of the European ‘Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR)’ and will become mandatory once the legal framework is published (expected late 2026 to early 2027). After a transition period\, brands\, manufacturers\, and importers must provide a DPP for all textiles and footwear placed on the EU market. \nImplementation requires transparent supply chains and reliable data. As this takes time\, an early start is recommended. This training provides you with the basics of the DPP\, explains regulatory requirements\, and demonstrates through initial practical experiences how companies are already approaching implementation. \nThe webinar is co-financed by the EU through the Interreg Alpine Space project ASTER and can therefore be offered to you free of charge. \nProgram\n·        Introductory words and brief presentation of ASTER – La Région Auvergne‑Rhône‑Alpes (Céline Quester)\, 5-10 min \n·        Independent Overview of the DPP– Austrian Plattform Industrie 4.0: Project PASSAT (Andreas Herbst)\, 20 min \n·        Scientific background – Fraunhofer Austria (Viola Gallina)\, 30 min \n·        Political background/ Legal framework – Retraced (Daniele Seiffert) \nShort Break 5 min \n·        Practical Workshop – Retraced (Roman Houlbreque) \n\nDiscussion 15 min  \n\nEvent Information\nCosts\nParticipation is free of charge; prior registration is required. \nLanguage\nThe webinar will be held in English. \nTarget Group \nManufacturers and brand owners of outdoor clothing and footwear\, sports retailers\, (senior) employees in sports retail responsible for digitalisation\, supply chains\, and sustainability\, service providers for rental\, repair\, and reuse\, collectors and recyclers\, as well as interested stakeholders from alpine outdoor sports\, digitalisation\, and the circular and waste management sectors.
